Our department hosted an another distinguished academician -Dr. Elaheh Kheirandish- in our webinar event named “History of Science Nights” on 02 June 2021. In the program moderated by Asst. Prof. Taha Yasin Arslan and R.A. Sena Aydın, Dr. Elaheh Kheirandish talked about her book which is available as of March 2021. Her book named "Baghdad and Isfahan: A Dialogue of Two Cities in an Age of Science (ca. 750-1750)" is interesting not only in content but also in style especially in titles. As we know, Baghdad and Isfahan had been capital cities and centres of intellectual thought in Islam civilization. Dr. Elaheh Kheirandish highlights their unique historical dialogue and the story of how knowladge was transmitted and transformed within Islamic lands, and then spread across Europe.
It was mentioned writing process and determining titles of the book in the program. Also, it was clarified some details or statements in the book on the questions asked, too. Moreover, it was brought up common problems among the historians of science providing possible suggestion on the source of these problems and how to overcome them. The duration of the session was not limited due to intimate participation and conversation, so the closing phase of the program took place quite spontaneously and sincerely.
